AKVIS Chameleon is a Collage Creation application used for automatic adjustment of the objects within the target image color range.
The tool is extremely easy to use as it does not require precise selection of objects. Copy an object, insert it into another picture, press a button and the object adjusts to the new background as chameleons do - adapting to the new color range and blending with the environment.
AKVIS Chameleon is used to insert new objects in a picture, but with much more flexibility and ease than with conventional tools (collage creation).
AKVIS Chameleon is also used to conceal undesirable artifacts by replacing them with the nearby parts of the image (similar to the clone tool).
The software has three modes:
- Montage. In this mode the program combines images to create a seamless photo montage. It transfers selected objects to a new background and makes the irrelevant parts of the pasted fragment fade away. The object does not change its color range or opacity. This mode is good to use for creating photo collages with people (pasting a person into a new background).
- Chameleon. In this mode the program adjusts the pasted fragment to the target image color range and smoothes the object's borders. It looks similar to the way a chameleon adapts to the environment.
- Blend Mode. In this mode the program does not only smoothes the borders of the inserted object and adjusts its color range, but it also makes the object semi-transparent, so that the texture and the relief of the primary image can be seen through. Use this mode if you want to dissolve the inserted image in the background.
Changes on the new version: Version 8.0 presents the Guidelines which help you to position the fragment on the background image. The new version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.8.
